Fujitsu PC helpdesk - lousy?

26 02 2007

More than 2 weeks ago, I had sent an email to Fujitsu PC Asia Pac regarding my Windows XP Pro-to-Vista upgrade path. This was because Fujitsu’s upgrade path for XP Pro is Vista Business. Unfortunately Vista Business lacks the Media Centre feature which I would like to have (see Microsoft’s official edition comparson). Hence I asked in my email if I can upgrade to Vista Home Premium edition instead, which has the Media Centre feature.

After 2 weeks of chasing, I finally received Fujitsu’s reply today:

The Vista Business is better than Home Premium Vista. It have all the features that Home premium dont have.

Does Fujitsu have to take more than 2 weeks to come up with such a lousy and incorrect reply? Clearly, Fujitsu’s reply is contrary to Microsoft’s official edition comparison.

Reunion dinner and Chinatown

19 02 2007

We kickstart the Chinese New Year celebrations by having reunion dinner on the eve at my parents’ place in Ang Mo Kio. This year, Mum decides to have less variety of food, but more on quality instead. So we had more seafood this year. In the photo, we can see prawns, fish, deep fried egg, luncheon meat, salmon, abalone and fishballs. By the way, that’s Shuyi putting fishballs into the soup. :)

After reunion dinner, Mum says she doesn’t mind going to Chinatown to take a look coz she’s been too busy to go there all these years on the eve. So, Mum, bro+girlfriend, sis, and I make our way to Chinatown. Wow, Chinatown is really packed - all the way from the MRT stations to the streets:

Amidst much squeezing, we somehow end up near an area of the stage where some Chinese radio DJs are hosting the countdown show. After enduring around 30 minutes of boring songs and performances, we are finally rewarded with a good view of the firecrackers and fireworks on the stroke of midnight.

And here we are, taking a leisure stroll on Eu Tong Sen Street on way home.

We’re really blessed to have this wonderful opportunity to spend a memorable and sweaty Chinese New Year’s eve in Chinatown. Looking forward to next year again! Haha. :D

Of steamboat and scalding quail eggs *ouch!*

15 02 2007

To beat the V-day crowd, SY and I purposely had our dinner one day before on 13 Feb. We ate at “2nd Mini Steamboat Delight” at Thomson Road. In addition to other good dishes, the place serves wonderful cockles (SY and I are huge fans of cockles). It’s a delight to dine with 2 other pairs of couples: 美全 + 咏秀 and Vincent + Adeline.

When it came to eating the quail eggs, I put one of them into my mouth, intending to bite it into half. But I accidentally burst the egg in my mouth… and the hot scathing egg yoke stuck to the upper ceiling of my mouth! It wouldn’t come off no matter how hard I used my tongue to force it loose. What follows is a few seconds of intense burning pain… Ouch! By the time I managed to dislodge the cooled yoke, I could feel the huge blister that had already formed inside my mouth.

Up till now, still can feel the strange-feeling patch of skin on the upper ceiling of my mouth. Praying that it can go away soon, so that I can eat the new year goodies with ease! Hehe. :D
